Climate & weather in Nepal

Nepal has a variety of climates depending on where you are visiting. Generally, summer ranges from late May-August and winter ranges from late November till March.

Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu has an average temperature of 17°C in January and 28°C in July. An average of 1389.90 mm precipitation falls annually. Surrounding hills of Kathmandu valley gets some snow in winter.

Pokhara

Pokhara a lakeside city receives an average precipitation of 3889 mm annually. Pokhara, the rainiest city of Nepal is located near Mt Annapurna Himalayan range. The summer temperature reaches up to 30°C. In the winter, the temperature drop to an average of 18°C and afternoons are warmer.

Chitwan

Chitwan is located an average altitude of 180m from the sea level and is effected by tropical weather patterns. Average temperature in the winter range between 22°C to 26°C and the summer temperature reach up to 36°C. Some parts of Chitwan get flooded each summer.

Climate & weather in Bhutan

Bhutan has three climatic zones mountain, mid hill and south. Mountain zone is cold and dry. Most of Bhutanese live in mid hill region, where day temperature never gets extreme. The southern region receives an average precipitation of over 5000 mm.

Climate & weather in Tibet

Tibet is located in China's high tundra zone, where the temperature is low in all four seasons. Some desert areas are dry all year round. The day temperature Lhasa, Tibet exceeds 29°C in the summer (May, June, July, August) and drop to an average of -9°C in the winter (Dec, Jan, Feb,).  Day sunlight is very strong and air is thin in Tibet. Tibet is best to visit from April till October. The mountain sickness and dizziness are common health disorders in Tibet for some people.
