The world's highest peak (8848m) in Mahalangur (Khumbu) Himal range, Solukhumbu District, east Nepal . The peak is named as Mount Everest after the British Surveyor George Everest. The name Sagarmatha was given by Nepali historian Baburam Acharya. The mountain was first climbed up to summit by Tenzing Norgey Sherpa and Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1959. |

Sagarmatha is included in world's Heritage list. The mountain is known as Chomolongma in Tibet.The Mountain lures several mountaineering expedition each year.
