Sustainable Tourism & Kalsee Eco Lodge Project

Kalsee Eco lodge is under construction in Kayarbari, Tanchowk, Lumle-3, Kaski, Nepal with eco friendly and sustainable concept. We believed that if we create economic activities in a place, it will empower living of the people in that place. After completion of the eco-lodge it will create job opportunities for locals. The lodge will use locally grown vegetable, poultry, fruits as much as possible which will generate income for local farmer.

Mission & vision

Our mission is to continue to achieve sustainability through eco tourism & education.  Every organizational initiatives and decisions we make are based on this goal. Our vision as a tour & eco lodge operator is to create ongoing community development, economic & job opportunities, to provide training and education that inspires and transforms individuals into self sufficient and efficient administrators of natural resources, and to give viable economic and sustainable alternatives to the people in the region.

In order to accomplish these goals, we developing an interesting organizational formation comprised of a non-profit organization that owns for profit companies. This business model is designed to help achieve financial auto-sufficiency and create job opportunities for the local people so that people should not leave their villages to find the job.

  • Kalsee Foundation (non profit organization) under formation
  • Kale Eco Lodge (Community Owned)
  • Evergreen Tours International

As a fully licensed tour operator, Kalsee eco lodge & Evergreen Tours  provides a platform for job & economic opportunities for the people living in the Lumle Village Development committee , which we raises  awareness and provides opportunities to bring solutions to the challenges facing in the villages of the region. Any income that the Foundation receives from Kalsee Eco Lodge, Evergreen Tours is reinvested in the Foundation to help cover the costs associated with community development, health & technical education etc.

In near future, we are will open a technical school, that will provides technical education for sustainable farming, animal husbandry, bee keeping and other sustainability that is most suitable to keep their livelihood.

Community Development

90% of the people depend on traditional farming in the villages which is unproductive and not self sufficient. Due to this kind of situation, young people are moving to Middle East countries to find job which is also not that much easy earning.  To discourage these situations, we will introduce modern and sustainable farming techniques to grow organic vegetables to the peoples living in the villages.

We will be the largest employer in the region with many of members of families working for the organization. The tourism activities have a broader affect by generating income for the local people who provide services to the lodge such as demonstration of cultural activities, supplying vegetable and fruits for the lodge kitchens, selling their handicrafts etc.

Health & education

Poor quality of public health and education are common issues in rural areas of the country. People have to travel miles to get better health. The education available in the rural area is impractical and irrelevant to their everyday lives. So, children discontinue their study after 6-7 grades or secondary school. To address these issues, we are planning to establish at least a health clinic with health assistance and a school that provides a practical and relevant experiential learning approach.

Lodge Construction

The lodge is under construction with locally available materials such as bamboo, wood, straw etc. We have been using local people as laborer. Even 80% of laborers are students, women's, and they are working on their weekend. They are using their wages to buy their books, school uniforms etc.
