Tibet Travel Visa & Permit

Individual tourist visa is not yet available for Tibet an autonomous region of China . All tourists should travel in group travel permit or visa. Mainland China visa is not valid to travel for Tibet . If you already have Mainland China visa in your passport, it will be canceled and changed to travel permit.

If you intend to make further trip to other places of China through Tibet, you have to change the group visa for a travel permit from the Office of Public Security Bureau in Lhasa. The airplane is the only way for your further trip to other parts of China.

We handle all the travel permit formalities for Tibet, if you decided to take our trips. In order to process travel permit, we require your passport details including full name, passport no, date of birth, sex, nationality, occupation, date of issue of passport, date of expiry of passport. It should process at least 15 days prior to trip begin.

The travel permit should be endorsed from Embassy of China in Kathmandu with original passport after it's approval from Tibet Tourism Bureau. The endorsement process takes one working day. The Embassy opens on Mon to Fri for this purpose.

Health Precaution

Mountain (altitude) sickness may be occurs due to diminished air or oxygen pressure causing a shortage of oxygen to the brain. Symptoms may include shortness of breath, dizziness, stomach upset, vomiting, chest tightness, weakness and unsteadiness etc. Generally no treatment is necessary, but such symptoms may continue until the person has become acclimated to the elevation.
